The unveiling and ceremony for Vice Admiral Colin J. Kilrain USN/SEAL (ret.) Monument. August 8th, 2024, Town Hall, Braintree, MA.

The event began with the Presentation of Colors followed by the National Anthem. Then remarks by the Mayor Erin V. Joyce, United States Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, LCDR James A. Smith USN/Seal (ret.), National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Executive Director Mr. Lee Roy Smith, Captain Bob Smith CAPT USN/SEAL (ret.) and the unveiling of the monument by VADM Colin J. Kilrain USN/SEAL (ret.) Vice Admiral Kilrain has had a decorated career in the US Navy that included combat service with the Navy Seals, supporting the State Department and the White House, as well as NATO. "It was an honor to create this piece. I was humbled by the kindness and graciousness of the Vice Admiral, a true American hero".

'The Catch'

'The Catch' was permanently placed at the Orleans Firebirds Baseball Field in Eldredge Park, MA.
The dedication ceremony and honorary first ball throw by Gwen was held July 30th, 2019

NSS Fellow Gwen Marcus has a solo exhibition at Tree's Place Gallery in Orleans, MA. Titled "A Personal Touch, Figurative Sculptures", the show runs through July 6, 2024. A large selection of her bronzes, from over-life-size to table-top to miniature are on view at the Cape Cod venue.

Sculpture Workshop given by Gwen
Scottsdale Artists' School: "Capturing Beauty in Clay,"

Gwen's well-attended workshop explored figurative sculpture in depth for beginning to advanced levels. Students worked in water-based clay over an armature with a live female model. The class covered form, proportions, relationships and the flow of a composition. Students were taught what to look for in setting a pose and balance and composition in the figure. Each student will received personal attention along with demonstrations throughout the week illustrating various techniques.

American Masters Exhibition
Gwen at the Chimei Museum, Taiwan

Gwen visited the newly reopened Chimei Museum. Numerous works by Gwen are currently on exhibit from their permanent collection.

The Chimei Museum boasts one of the largest collections of violins in the world, and significant collections of ancient weapons and Western paintings and sculptures. The new building, which was under construction for four years, is an eye-catching structure that features a European-style design.

Lecture in Taiwan

Gwen was invited to present lectures on her work at the National Cheng Kung University Art Center in Taiwan. The event was organized by the Chi Mei Museum, where her works are on permanent display in their collection. The Museum lent two of Gwen’s works, 'The Bather' and 'Serenity', as a temporary outdoor exhibit on the grounds of the University.

Brookgreen Gardens Exhibition: "Selected Works by Rainey Master Sculptors"

This exhibit includes artworks by Brookgreen's Sculptors in Residence, which is part of the Anne Edens Rainey Master Sculptor Program.

Artist In Residence at Brookgreen Gardens

Gwen was invited to lecture in South Carolina at Brookgreen Gardens: a National Historic Landmark with the most significant collection in the world of figurative sculpture in an outdoor setting by American artists. Gwen spoke about her work and her process on October 7th.

Gwen conducted a masterclass workshop, 'Modeling the Graceful Figure', that covered form, proportions, relationships and the flow of a composition. Working from a live model students, learned what to look for in setting a pose as well as balance and composition in the figure.

"Performance in Sculpture" Exhibit

Gwen with Judith Lisi, President, Chief Executive Officer of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa, Florida by her sculpture 'Ete'. Gwen attended the closing reception for 'Performance in Sculpture', works by National Sculpture Society Members.


Her work 'Ete' was on display for two years in the lobby.
